Venice Carnival 2012 #8
On our second last day of the Venice Carnival 2012 Photo Tour, we all got up extremely early (and it was a Saturday) to head to Saint Marco's square and make some portraits of the people in costumes. Well we all got up early, except me. I accidentally slept in by about an hour. Still, once I woke up and realized I had missed the meeting time, I was out with my gear in 5 minutes, and in the location in 20, where i joined the rest of the group. Although I missed the really nice pre-dawn/dawn light, I think I arrived just at the right time for the light to be right for shooting the costumes. The place was a bit of a photographic zoo at this time. It was pretty much all photographers and people in their amazing costumes. Not many, if any, tourists so it was an excellent opportunity to make photos. This is one of them. The first thing that caught my eye was the headdress and the feathers, then the warm colours made even warmer by the morning light. Venice is a fascinating place. The whole experience I think will remain in my mind for a long time to come, and who knows maybe go back next year :) Hope you like it and let me know what you think.John
