Street Photography in Amsterdam with the iPhone 4S and Hipstamatic
I headed out yesterday during the lunch hour, into the Leidseplein and eventually down the Leidsestraat with my iPhone, and Hipstamatic ready to shoot. For those of you that don't know, Leidseplein and Leidsestraat are one of the most popular squares and streets in Amsterdam. It's closed of to traffic aside from trams, and it is always full of people. While street photography is a genre that I spend quite a bit of time admiring, it is one genre of photography that makes me feel pretty uncomfortable to shoot. As such every now and then I like to explore it to see if I can ease out my own kinks about it.Hipstamatic, is a pretty neat application for your iPhone, and i've finally found a nice black and white combination that is wielding good results. That is the combination of the Lucifer VI Lens and US1776 Film. I find that knowing that I have a workable visual solution, helps me visualize and shoot with it in mind. I made these photos yesterday over a span of 30 minutes or so, and while they aren't really great, I still found them worth posting and sharing. The large shots, are the ones I really liked, and the rest can be seen in a gallery at the bottom of this post.
