Trouble with Eclipse update feature

For a little while now on my home computer, whenever I’ve tried to use the update site feature in Eclipse to install new plugins (Help -> Find Install new features), it would hose my connection. I mean totally hose it. To restore it i would have to enable/disable the adapter, and try again, which would then cause the same issue to happen again, and so on.

Thinking that there is no way that i’m the only person that has experienced this, I found the following:

https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=74382
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=79212
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=103776
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=108436

I’m not the only one!

So after reading those, I noticed that I have a D-Link gigabit adapter which uses the same exact chip set mentioed in one of those bug reports. Since I have another ethernet card built into my motherboard which I don’t use, i decided to swap the connection. Guess what? Problem solved!

So, for those of you out there having the same problem, take a look at your network card, in particular a D-Link card using the Marvell Yukon GigE ship set.
